  • Winter Cheer

    Come cheer on your NHS Raiders Girls and Boys basketball teams this winter season! Open to all 8th to 12th graders. - Uniforms will need to be purchased by November 1st in order have them for our first game. They are purchased from Varsity, and will be a total of about $150. After you purchase the uniform, you will be able to use it for any season you cheer for (fall and winter). If you need to purchase a uniform after this time you still can, it just wouldn't be for the first few games, but we do have ones that you can use. - The season begins Monday, Nov 13th and ends March 7th. - Practices are Mondays from 5 to 7 pm and Thursdays from 3:30 to 6pm at the high school. - You will need "white cheer shoes" that can be purchased on Varsity, Amazon, Omni Cheer, Cheerzone etc. You don't need to buy new white cheer shoes if you already have them. - You may purchase pom poms from Varsity as your ordering the uniform IF you want but you don't have to. We do have ones you can use for the season and give back. Coach Laurie will email you the uniform link once you register, and will explain to you how to enter the size info. Once sizes are entered, I will email you another link by Nov 1st to have you pay for the uniform by the deadline of November 1st.
  • Ski & Snowboard Club

    Ready to hit the slopes? The Northfield Ski & Snowboard Club will travel to Welch Village for eight Monday evenings throughout the winter months. Busses will load students from the middle school and high school at the end of the school day, and transport them to Welch. Busses will return to Northfield at 9:15 pm. Veteran and adult chaperones supervise on the bus and while at Welch Village. Lessons are not offered through the club. All participants must know how to ski/snowboard, or have taken appropriate lessons before the club starts in January. If interested in lessons, check out our new Summit Ski Lessons! Please note that Welch will NOT be offering single day lift tickets to school clubs, nor any single day bus buy-ons. Registration for the club closes on December 8. STEP 2 Purchase the Night Club Pass. All ski & snowboard club members must obtain a Welch Village pass (night or unlimited), purchased directly from Welch. Once registered through Community Ed, you will receive a link in your confirmation email on how to purchase the discounted Night Club Pass. The Night Club Pass (after 3 pm everyday) = $219 + tax. There is no pass price correction if purchased outside of the club discount.

    Register for an exciting two-day camp where you will spend all your time with show horses, learning and experiencing Western, English, and bareback riding, ground work, horsemanship, and training. We welcome all riding abilities and those who have never ridden before to join us for a fun-filled, action-packed youth camp with horses.
  • Youth Taekwondo

    Take your Taekwondo to the next level! Improve physical fitness, focus, and flexibility through traditional forms, controlled-contact sparring, and self-defense techniques as you work toward your world recognized black belt. Students practice basic techniques and learn intermediate and advanced techniques based on their current skill-level. Youth students are encouraged to attend the Intro to Martial Arts class from 6:15-6:45pm as well as the Taekwondo times based on their skill-level. Sign up for the whole session or choose the drop-in option. This class is intended for older students (11+) and students who have progressed to a sufficient level in the Intro to Martial Arts class.   • Gumdo Korean Sword - Teen

    Develop fitness, focus, and coordination through Haidong Gumdo, the Korean art of the sword. Using the two-handed longsword, students will learn forms, drills and cutting exercises based on battlefield tactics. This is a non-contact, low-impact, fast-paced martial art. Younger students with previous martial arts experience are welcome with instructor approval or when registered with a parent. This class runs concurrently with the adult class. There is a $20 fee for the practice sword, payable to the instructor on the first day of class. Uniform and testing fees are additional. For more information, go to northstargumdo.org.

  • Shorin-Ryu Karate

    Karate develops self-confidence, focus, strength, and flexibility. Karate is a rewarding physical activity for adults, children, and families. Train in Shorin-Ryu karate, a traditional Okinawan style. Emphasis is on kata (forms) and self-defense application, not free-style sparring nor competition. You train to improve yourself, not compare yourself to other students – beginners are especially welcome! Our school is part of Ueshiro Shorin-Ryu Karate USA.   • Summit Ski Lessons

    The quest for adventure and learning a lifetime sport, begins with our Summit Ski Lessons! Our veteran instructors have been teaching the basics and art of skiing for decades, and will share their expertise with your child. Beginner and advanced options are available to suit the ability level of every skier. Beginners will focus on stopping, turning, getting on and off a char lift, and will learn general safety. Your advanced student will become a stronger, more confident skier through balance and carving drills, and will work toward mastery of specific skills of interest. This is a one-of-a-kind experience your child will thrive in and enjoy. You may choose the 4-week beginner course (first 4-weeks of instruction & second 4-weeks of free skiing), the 4-week advanced course (first 4-weeks of free skiing & second 4 weeks of instruction), or all eight weeks of progressive instruction.     Starfish swim lessons will orient children to the aquatic environment, help them acquire rudimentary levels of basic swimming, and will build on the aquatic curriculum learned in the Water Babies & Aqua Tots' classes by providing additional guided practice with increased distances and times. Your child will love learning to swim with our creative curriculum themes like Safari, Outer-space, Circus, and Ocean! Children are allowed to participate without an adult/parent in the water. Purpose: To orient preschool-age children to the aquatic environment and to help them acquire rudimentary levels of basic aquatic skills while becoming more proficient with aquatic movements as distance and time is increased. Learning Objectives: - Enter and exit water using ladder, steps, side, by stepping in from a low height and by jumping in to shoulder deep water - Blow bubbles through mouth and nose - Submerge mouth, nose and eyes and hold breath for 10 seconds - Bobbing - Rotary Breathing - Open eyes under water and retrieve submerged objects - Front and back glides and recover to a vertical position - Back float for 5 - 15 seconds and recover to a vertical position - Front, jellyfish and tuck floats for 10 seconds - Roll from front to back and back to front - Change direction of travel while swimming on front or back - Tread with arm and hand actions and tread water for 15 - 30 seconds - Finning action on back - Alternating and simultaneous leg and arm actions on front and back - Combined arm and leg actions on front and back - Experience wearing a life jacket in the water - Learn safety rules and what to do in an emergency

  • Private Swim Lessons - Youth

    Private swimming lessons are available for anyone regardless of age or ability. Lessons are held at the AmericInn Pool when an instructor is available (4:30 - 5 pm & 7:30 - 8 pm) on the following Tuesdays. Other people may be in the pool as the private lessons take place. To schedule a private lesson, please call Melissa at 507.664.3502. No online registration available. Tuesdays, January 8 - February 27 Tuesdays, April 2 - May 21 $15/half hour. Children in the same family who are about the same swim level make take the lesson together for the cost of one. Lessons are not final, and payment not collected unless an instructor can be found to cover the private lessons.

    The Northfield Skating School (NSS) encourages participation, enjoyment and achievement in skating by fostering a positive, challenging and inclusive learning environment. NSS is an official Learn to Skate USA program, endorsed by US Figure Skating, USA Hockey and US Speedskating, where you'll build skills and confidence for skating and for life. Skaters receive a weekly lesson and an open skate punch card for practices. Class assignments will be distributed at parent meeting. NSS reserves the right to cancel, combine, or adjust classes based on registration and does not pro-rate. Skills include dips, swizzles, stops, and games. Skaters who complete Snowplow Sam enter the “Basic” curriculum. Basic 1-6 (ages 6+) Learn all fundamentals of the sport including forward and backward skating techniques, stops, turns, & edges. The Basic levels prepare skaters with the basic knowledge to enable advancement into specialized areas of skating. Skaters who complete Basic 6 enter Pre-Freeskate. Specialized classes are typically open to skaters Basic 4+ or Basic 5+. Adult 1- 6 (age 18+) Designed to promote overall fitness, improving balance and coordination while mastering skating basics.   • Boys & Girls Bowling

    The Northfield United States Bowling Association (USBC) is a non-profit organization designed to introduce students to bowling. Meet other kids, make friends, have fun, and prepare for the Raider High School Bowling Team, and a lifetime of enjoyment. Learning to bowl also offers a chance to earn scholarships for continued education. $6,000,000 in scholarships are provided by the bowling industry every year. In addition, 250 colleges offer bowling with scholarships. No experience necessary. Coaching and equipment are provided. Participants may bowl one or both sessions, and can join at any time for a prorated fee. An annual $10 United States Bowling Congress sanction fee is additional for the new season and due the first session of participation (membership year is September 2023 - August 2024). $100 first session of participation in membership year. $90 additional sessions in membership year.     What better place for your child on a weekend morning in the dead of winter than at the fun and engaging Community Ed basketball program. Our experienced staff, in conjunction with high school and college players, will provide a focused learning environment through drill work, scrimmages, and small group training. Your child will walk away with knowledge and abilities sure to increase their future basketball success. A tournament will take place on the last day of the program.
  • Champion Force Cheerleading

    We offer a fun and exciting cheer program for beginner, intermediate, and advanced level students. We focus on the fundamentals of cheers, chants, jumps, stunts, and dance routines. Each class learns at least one full routine and will showcase their skills for parents and at competitions. Classes are available for all ages, and no experience is necessary for Recreation Levels. Champion Force Athletics is dedicated to empowering all kids with strength, confidence, and self-esteem. All classes are taught by certified coaches.

  • Indoor Tennis

    Due to a change in the choir concert at GVP this spring, the indoor tennis program will be starting one week later than originally planned. We will begin on the 16th and end on the 30th (Acers, grades K-1) and begin on the 17th and end on May 1 (Grand Slammers, grades 2-5). This new and innovative indoor tennis program will ooze out fun and creativity your child will love! Using unique training equipment and drills, all aspects of tennis will be taught and practiced in an engaging way. Swinging the racket shouldn't stop when the snow flies, so register your child today and captivate them with this lifetime sport. All equipment provided.
