This course starts at “ground zero” for those that are new to Spanish (or have completely forgotten any Spanish they may have learned in the past). This class will use the text Realidades 1 (a popular high school text) in addition to ancillary materials created by the instructor. The focus will be on pronunciation, vocabulary acquisition, adjective forms and the present tense. Vocabulary will focus on greetings, numbers, body parts, physical descriptions and hobbies.
For the winter session: Students will continue with their acquisition of Spanish grammar and vocabulary. Grammar will focus on irregular verbs in the present tense, verbs like gustar and the future. Vocabulary will cover foods, family members, activities and celebrations. A printable workbook and answer key will be provided via email.
Please plan to order your textbook (Realidades 1, 2004 version) prior to the start of class (available online at Amazon.com). Provided a 3 week notice, textbooks maybe purchased from the instructor for $25.
Your Spanish journey will be led by instructor Chris Kauffeld, who completed coursework for his M.A. in Spanish in Santiago de Compostela, Spain and taught English for two years in Zaragoza, Spain.
