    Build confidence, develop core-strength, and improve physical fitness with Taekwondo. From beginner through advanced with a curriculum that works toward a world recognized black belt, students learn traditional forms and drills as well as defensive tactics, progressing to application of techniques through controlled-contact sparring. We are family focused and encourage parents to attend with their children. Adult students are encouraged to attend the Intro to Martial Arts class (Youth) from 6:00-6:45pm as well as Taekwondo class times based on their skill-level. Uniform & test fees are additional.   • Chow Qigong

    Qigong is a subtle energy healing system and ancient wisdom practice over 5,000 years old based in Traditional Chinese Medicine. There are many styles practiced around the world, in this class we will focus on Chow Qigong which is a medical qigong. Qigong is considered a “way of life” practice that encompasses the union of body, mind and spirit. Qi means lifeforce or breath and gong means work or cultivation. Qigong is cultivating lifeforce energy, health, overall well-being and vitality.   • Gumdo Korean Sword - Adult

    Develop fitness, focus, and coordination through Haidong Gumdo, the Korean art of the sword. Using the two-handed longsword, students will learn forms, drills and cutting exercises based on battlefield tactics. This is a non-contact, low-impact, fast-paced martial art. Younger students with previous martial arts experience are welcome with instructor approval or when registered with a parent. This class runs concurrently with the adult class. There is a $20 fee for the practice sword, payable to the instructor on the first day of class. Uniform and testing fees are additional.
  • Introduction to Qigong

    Qigong uses gentle movements, breathing techniques, and meditation to open and balance the body’s meridian systems to maintain optimal health and to prevent illnesses. In a relaxed environment we will be using Qigong movements designed to first help you feel or enhance internal and external Qi/energy, and then learn some techniques to direct energy to create peace and joy in your internal and external world. Quigong reduces stress, pain and anxiety, strengthens the immune system, relieves depression, balances emotions, relieves digestive issues, and increases contentment, joy, peace and empowerment.   • Kyudo

    Influenced by the culture of Japan’s samurai warriors, Imperial Court, and Shinto and Buddhist traditions, Kyudo is practiced as a means to self-improvement. The non-competitive and introspective nature of Japanese archery allows practitioners to gain insight into their personalities. Instruction is provided by Carly and John Born (Renshi 5th Dan). Annual membership in the Minnesota Kyudo Renmei association is required for returning students. Loaner equipment provided for most adults.
  • Shorin-Ryu Karate

    Ueshiro Shorin Ryu is an ancient and practical style of Karate originating in Okinawa, Japan. Adults of all ages, and kids 8 and up, train together on the deck to build strength and self-confidence without sparring or competitions. Newer students learn by modeling more advanced students and progress at their own pace. Every class includes warmups, basic moves, kata (choreographed sequences) and targeted exercises focused on flexibility, balance and control. Mastery comes through repetition. Students are encouraged to attend 2 of the 3 classes a week as schedules allow. Beginners are welcome and attend in gym clothes until their first test, which requires a white uniform and testing fees. Karate is great for families, and children do best accompanied by an adult.
