This course is a continuation of last year’s Spanish 2 . If you are a new student, this class would be a good fit if you are comfortable with the present tense and have knowledge of vocabulary related to personal descriptions, pastimes, food and living quarters. Students will start with unit 7B in the Realidades 1 text (new students will need to purchase a copy of the text prior to the beginning of class). Teacher-created ancillary materials will also be provided. .We will focus on the preterite (past) tense of regular and irregular verbs, direct and indirect object pronouns and verbs similar to gustar. Vocabulary will focus on travel, volunteering, media and technology. Students will be finishing the Realidades 1 text and transitioning to the next book in the series, so they will need to purchase a Realidades 2 text to continue with the winter series of classes.
During the winter session, students will be starting with the Realidades 2 text. Present and preterite tenses will be reviewed, with special emphasis on irregular verbs. Students also will learn how to make comparisons, how to use direct object pronouns, how to conjugate and use reflexive verbs and how to form commands. Vocabulary will focus on school-related terms, extra-curricular activities, daily routines, clothing, fashion, shopping and asking for and giving directions.
A printable workbook and answer key will be provided via email.
Please plan to order your textbook (Realidades 1-Fall/ Realidades 2-Winter, any version) prior to the start of class (available online at AbeBooks.com, eBay and second-hand stores). Provided a 3 week notice, textbooks maybe purchased from the instructor for $25.
