Make a Tiny Basket with Natural Foraged Materials

Adult Enrichment -
Summer 2026

Discover the art of tiny basket making using natural, foraged materials and an ancient twining technique. In this hands-on, nature-connected class, participants will learn how to create a small basket using soft plant materials found right in our everyday surroundings. Along the way, you’ll explore where to find basketry materials, how foraging can deepen your connection to nature, and how to prepare a few commonly available natural fibers for weaving.

This three-session class includes:

  • Session 1 –The basics: learn an ancient twining technique innovated by indigenous folks in cultures all around the world.
  • Session 2 & 3–Basket making meetups for skill building and troubleshooting.

No prior basketry experience is needed. Come ready to explore, learn, and create with materials gathered from nature.

Supplies needed-please bring to class: Big darning needle, small scissors, a cloth you don’t mind getting dirty. I will have extras you can borrow if needed.
