  • Gumdo Korean Sword - Teen

    Develop fitness, focus, and coordination through Haidong Gumdo, the Korean art of the sword. Using the two-handed longsword, students will learn forms, drills and cutting exercises based on battlefield tactics. This is a non-contact, low-impact, fast-paced martial art. Younger students with previous martial arts experience are welcome with instructor approval or when registered with a parent. This class runs concurrently with the adult class. There is a $20 fee for the practice sword, payable to the instructor on the first day of class. Uniform and testing fees are additional. For more information, go to northstargumdo.org.
  • Intro to Martial Arts

    Designed to provide an introduction to martial arts, this class offers a fun and supportive environment where instructors work with students to improve balance, coordination, and focus, while developing Taekwondo skills and physical fitness. Students learn basic kicks, blocks, and strikes through a combination of traditional forms and drills as well as a variety of fun games. New students receive a Bright Mountain Martial Arts t-shirt to train in. Older students (11+) and students who have progressed to a sufficient level are invited to join the Youth Taekwondo class.   • Shorin-Ryu Karate

    Karate develops self-confidence, focus, strength, and flexibility. Karate is a rewarding physical activity for adults, children, and families. Train in Shorin-Ryu karate, a traditional Okinawan style. Emphasis is on kata (forms) and self-defense application, not free-style sparring nor competition. You train to improve yourself, not compare yourself to other students – beginners are especially welcome! Our school is part of Ueshiro Shorin-Ryu Karate USA. It is recommended that children under 10 be accompanied by at least one other family attending classes. Students may attend as many or as few sessions as they'd like.   • Youth Taekwondo

    Take your Taekwondo to the next level! Improve physical fitness, focus, and flexibility through traditional forms, controlled-contact sparring, and self-defense techniques as you work toward your world recognized black belt. Students practice basic techniques and learn intermediate and advanced techniques based on their current skill-level. Youth students are encouraged to attend the Intro to Martial Arts class from 6:15-6:45pm as well as the Taekwondo times based on their skill-level. This class is intended for older students (11+) and students who have progressed to a sufficient level in the Intro to Martial Arts class.
