  • Beginner Rollerskating

    Learn to roller skate or improve your roller skating skills. Two retired roller derby skaters will teach you skating stance, stride, stops and turns, then incorporate these skills into fun skating games. This class is tailored toward beginner and intermediate level skaters.Skills can be advanced or simplified to accommodate varying abilities. Helmets are required. We highly encourage knee pads and wrist guards. Limited pads and guards available for those without them.

If and when you'd like additional lessons, you MUST register and pay again, prior to blocking out slots on the google appointment calendar. There is no recommended number of lessons or schedule of lessons. Every person may choose the number of lessons desired and a schedule that works best to meet each specific need. Some families feel that 3 lessons max are sufficient, while others spend an entire summer taking private lessons. If in doubt, schedule one or two lessons with McKenzie and talk with her about what the goals are for the child/adult. Her opinion may be beneficial to how you'd like to structure private lessons this summer. Lessons cannot be scheduled less than 24 hours out. Please cancel within 24 hours to receive a refund, or to be given the opportunity to reschedule. If extenuating circumstances occur, and you cannot make it to your scheduled lessons, please call McKenzie at least 3 hours before your lesson (phone number available on Calendly).   • Private Tennis Lessons

    Acquire basic tennis technique or enhance your current skills with private tennis lessons this summer! - Instructor Carter Borovsky is a current high school varsity tennis player. He has been playing tennis his entire life, and has played competitively as a varsity player for three years. He is currently the number one varsity player for the Northfield Raiders. Private one-hour lessons are held at either the Northfield Middle School or Northfield High School tennis courts, depending upon availability. Carter will reach out to you with the specific location of the lesson once scheduled. Carter is eager to work with players of all abilities and help improve your game. - Instructor Hailey Reuvers is currently a collegiate tennis player at The University of Wisconsin-River Falls. She played varsity tennis for 7 years at Faribault High School where she was at the One Doubles position for three seasons. Hailey has coached youth tennis for four summers, and have also helped coach high school players during the summer.   • Mountain Bike Dirt School

    *** If you register after 6/3 and need a bike, please call our office at 507.664.3502 at least 12 hours before the class start time. You won't be guaranteed a bike for week one this short of notice, but we will do our best to get you one for the remaining classes. We are offering a four-week mountain bike program for novice to intermediate riders. Participants will build their technical mountain bike skills and explore local single-track, while building confidence and having fun. Bikes provided if you don't bring your own.

    Don't miss the 2025 summer camp for high school players! Athletes will work on specific football skills based on positions. Team offensive and defensive schemes, as well as group work, will also be a focus of the camp. Pads will be handed out prior to the first practice on June 9th, and may be used for other summer camps. $1 of the registration fee goes toward the rental of the helmet and shoulder pads.   • Track & Field

    Designed for all athletic abilities and interests, this program is both recreational and challenging. Your child will achieve an athletic edge through their participation in short sprints, middle distance running, obstacle courses, and field events, including hurdles, shot put, and long jump. The program includes an Olympic day, a water day, a trail running outing, and run-for-fun meets.

    Get a kick out of soccer! Your child will learn the basics of passing, shooting, dribbling, and teamwork in our fun and engaging program. An athletic skill set will be developed through drills, fun activities, technical learning, and agility work.   • T-Ball

    ***No T-Ball on June 19th or June 30 - July 2*** This t-ball program will encourage teamwork, confidence, focus, and will develop basic t-ball fundamentals. Participants will hit off of a tee. The program includes three practices per week, and a handful of in-house scrimmages. Great staff to student ratios, fun practices, and end of season contests make this program a home run. Tentative activities include a water and picture day, and a pitch, hit, and run competition. Please bring your own helmet if you do not desire to share the ones provided.     ***No Little League on June 19th or June 30 - July 2*** Come on out to the ballpark and enjoy a season where the love of the game comes first. Through a mix of drill work, repetition of fundamentals, positional skill building, and a variety of sport related activities, players will learn the basics, be introduced to field positions, and will become better players. The tee will be used when necessary, but players will also spend time hitting via coach pitch. Tentative activities include a water and picture day, and a pitch, hit, and run competition. Saturday Lessons: Red Cross Water Babies/Aqua Tots & Starfish lesson one and two (June 14 & 21) have been moved to the Northfield Middle School (2200 Division St. S.) due to a leak at the Northfield Old Memorial Outdoor Pool. If additional classes need to be held indoors, you will be contacted via email prior to June 28th. Water Babies & Aqua Tots' classes help to familiarize young children with the water and prepare them for participation at the pre-school level. Your child will love learning to swim with our creative curriculum themes like Safari, Outerspace, Circus, and Ocean! The parent is an integral part of the learning process and must accompany the child in the water. Purpose: To familiarize young children to the water and prepare them for the pre-school aquatics program. Learning Objectives: Enter and exit the water in a safe manner Feel comfortable in the water Explore submerging to the mouth, nose and eyes in a rhythmic pattern Explore buoyancy on the front and back position Change body position in the water with support Glide on front and back with assistance Learn about the importance of wearing a life jacket and experience wearing one Learn basic safety safety rules and how to avoid hazards around the home Respect adult supervision in and around water

Starfish swim lessons will orient children to the aquatic environment, help them acquire rudimentary levels of basic swimming, and will build on the aquatic curriculum learned in the Water Babies & Aqua Tots' classes by providing additional guided practice with increased distances and times. Your child will love learning to swim with our creative curriculum themes like Safari, Outer-space, Circus, and Ocean! Children are allowed to participate without an adult/parent in the water. Purpose: To orient preschool-age children to the aquatic environment and to help them acquire rudimentary levels of basic aquatic skills while becoming more proficient with aquatic movements as distance and time is increased. Learning Objectives: - Enter and exit water using ladder, steps, side, by stepping in from a low height and by jumping in to shoulder deep water - Blow bubbles through mouth and nose - Submerge mouth, nose and eyes and hold breath for 10 seconds - Bobbing - Rotary Breathing - Open eyes under water and retrieve submerged objects - Front and back glides and recover to a vertical position - Back float for 5 - 15 seconds and recover to a vertical position - Front, jellyfish and tuck floats for 10 seconds - Roll from front to back and back to front - Change direction of travel while swimming on front or back - Tread with arm and hand actions and tread water for 15 - 30 seconds - Finning action on back - Alternating and simultaneous leg and arm actions on front and back - Combined arm and leg actions on front and back - Experience wearing a life jacket in the water - Learn safety rules and what to do in an emergency

    This lifting, speed, and conditioning program will safely increase your strength, power, lean body mass, balance, endurance, athletic performance, general health, and prevent injury. Summer Strength & Conditioning is offered to those entering grades 6 - 12.
  • Youth Horse Camp

    Register for this exciting four-day camp where you will spend all your time with show horses, learning and experiencing Western, English and bareback riding, ground work, horsemanship, and training. We welcome all riding abilities and those who have never ridden before to join us for a fun filled, action packed youth camp with horses. Black Horse (Cornerstone's most popular lesson/camp horse) won the 2024 Horse of the Year by the MN Horse Council, and will see you at camp! * The required Cornerstone waiver may be accessed via the link in your confirmation email. Please fill out and bring to class. Bring a bicycle helmet if you have one, otherwise riding helmets are provided.
  • Northfield Hiliners Dance Team Summer Skill Training

    Join the Hiliners coaching team as they build dancer skills in both Kick and Jazz dance styles. This is the dancer's opportunity to gain flexibility, precision, strength, and stamina that will prove useful during the competitive season. Not currently a Hiliner? You can still participate in this class. Dancers bring to each session: a water bottle, jazz shoes, and athletic shoes. Dancers should wear athletic or dance clothing that fits closer to the body: good support sports bra, spandex shorts, and tank tops or tees (tights are optional).
  • Beginner Skateboarding

    Register your child for something that challenges them this summer! Knowledgeable staff from Northfield's Northside Boards will instruct and work with your child to learn parts of the board, the physics of skateboarding, the basics of how to ride and stop, and simple tricks. Skateboards will be provided, but you may bring your own. You must wear a helmet. Shoulder and knee pads are optional.
  • USTA Junior Team Tennis

    This program is for athletes who are fairly consistent when hitting medium paced shots, can sustain a rally, serve with consistency, and includes veteran coaching instruction, match play, and travel. You will work on stroke development, competitive match strategy, developing an individual game plan, and footwork. Drills, games, match play and strategy sessions will provide you an opportunity to raise your game level. Emphasis on competitive play for everyone. Please purchase a USTA youth membership, prior to registering with Community Ed. Each camper will be provided a t- shirt. Contact Community Ed for multiple sibling discounts or general scholarship information. Players need to be eligible to play at each age group through July 31, 2025.   • Youth Tennis Development

    Rally to one of the finest youth programs in Northfield! Community Education and the Northfield Tennis Association have been working together for years to uphold the strong tradition of tennis in Northfield. Coaches are carefully selected and trained, and are highly skilled, motivational, excellent with kids, and know how to have fun! By utilizing equipment and court dimensions tailored to age and size, coaches will engage participants with innovative and unique training equipment and drills to effectively train youth for the game. Players are strongly encouraged to register for at least two tennis sessions throughout the summer. Contact Beth LaCanne with placement questions (bethlacanne@gmail.com). Beginner: Designed to help develop agility, balance, and coordination, lessons include movement activities, fun instructional drills, recreational games, and will focus on the learning of basic strokes. Various low compression tennis balls are used for each class: Grades K-2 will use Red Ball (75% slower than standard yellow ball), Grades 3-5 will use Orange Ball (50% slower than standard yellow ball) and Grades 6-8 will use Green Ball (25% slower than standard yellow ball). Intermediate: Designed for players who have mastered the basic strokes, lessons will focus on footwork, agility, developing groundstrokes and serves, fun instructional drills, and competitive games.
  • Shorin-Ryu Karate

    Karate develops self-confidence, focus, strength, and flexibility. Karate is a rewarding physical activity for adults, children, and families. Train in Shorin-Ryu karate, a traditional Okinawan style. Emphasis is on kata (forms) and self-defense application, not free-style sparring nor competition. You train to improve yourself, not compare yourself to other students – beginners are especially welcome! Our school is part of Ueshiro Shorin-Ryu Karate USA.
