  • Beginner/Intermediate Scootering

    This new class will engage your child in the beginner or intermediate skills of scootering. The staff team from Northside Boards will teach your child the importance of safety while scootering at home and the park, general maintenance, ramp skills, and will also introduce some level appropriate tricks. Participants will be grouped by ability. This is a great opportunity for your child to develop skills and participate in one of the fastest-growing youth activities of our time.
  • Beginner/Intermediate Skateboarding

    Register your child for something that challenges them this spring! Knowledgeable staff from Northfield's Northside Boards will instruct and work with your child to learn parts of the board, the physics of skateboarding, the basics of how to ride and stop, and simple tricks. Skateboards will be provided, but you may bring your own. You must wear a helmet. Shoulder and knee pads are optional.

  • Beginning American Sign Language

    Join long time instructor Michael Detjen for this 5 week course where you will learn and practice a vocabulary base of up to 400 signs. Discover the importance of facial and body language and finger-spelling. Learn to sign numbers up to 1000, colors, foods, verbs, adjectives and develop basic conversation skills through role-playing. It can be fun to communicate without voice! Class fee includes textbook.

  • Boys & Girls Bowling

    The Northfield United States Bowling Association (USBC) is a non-profit organization designed to introduce students to bowling. Meet other kids, make friends, have fun, and prepare for the Raider High School Bowling Team, and a lifetime of enjoyment. Learning to bowl also offers a chance to earn scholarships for continued education. $6,000,000 in scholarships are provided by the bowling industry every year. In addition, 250 colleges offer bowling with scholarships. No experience necessary. Coaching and equipment are provided. Participants may bowl one or both sessions, and can join at any time for a prorated fee. An annual $10 United States Bowling Congress sanction fee is additional for the new season and due the first session of participation (membership year is September 2023 - August 2024). $100 first session of participation in membership year. $90 additional sessions in membership year.   • Boys Basketball Summer Camp

    Receive instructional sessions from the high school boys basketball coaching staff. Tuesday mornings there will be a concentration on shooting, footwork, ball handling, and skills development. Thursday's will consist of learning team fundamentals and concepts, and applying those to competitive game play. Grades 10 - 12 enrollment includes 5 nights of league play (10 games total) in the South of the River League on Tuesday Nights throughout June and July.

  • CDL Permit Prep Course

    For ages 17+...Prepare yourself for a career in the truck driving industry by attending this free ongoing CDL Permit Prep course. The full course is divided between three Monday evening classes that can be attended virtually or in person. At the end of this course, students should be prepared to attempt their General Knowledge, Air Brakes, and Combination Vehicle Tests. This course is not Entry Level Training or Behind the Wheel Training.

  • Canine Good Citizen: Dog Training

    Classes will focus on preparing dogs for the steps for each of the ten American Kennel Club exercises needed in order to pass the AKC Canine Good Citizenship Test.
  • Cardio Drumming

    Cardio Drumming is a cardio class suited for all ages and ability levels. Using a bucket, exercise ball, and drumsticks as workout equipment, you will focus on strengthening you arms and legs, while working out to fun, upbeat music. You can also practice your drumming skills! $15 for the entire session, or $5 drop-in per class.
  • Champion Force Cheerleading

    We offer a fun and exciting cheer program for beginner, intermediate, and advanced level students. We focus on the fundamentals of cheers, chants, jumps, stunts, and dance routines. Each class learns at least one full routine and will showcase their skills for parents and at competitions. Classes are available for all ages, and no experience is necessary for Recreation Levels. Champion Force Athletics is dedicated to empowering all kids with strength, confidence, and self-esteem. All classes are taught by certified coaches.
  • Cheerleading Camp

    Future Cheerleaders...Come and learn about the fun, positive and energetic sport of cheerleading! The Northfield High School Raider Football Cheer team and its head coach will help you learn the basics of cheerleading, and will teach you different cheers, dances and jumps that are done while rooting on our Northfield Raiders. Come and join the fun! To secure a spot and a t-shirt and poms, register on or before the deadline of July 19. Please indicate shirt size when registering.
  • Child and Babysitting Safety

    The Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) program from the American Safety and Health Institute provides everything you need to know for safe and successful babysitting. The YouTube “vlogger” style presentation of the video brings a youthful and high-energy spirit to the program content along with handouts, demonstrations, and additional resources. At the end of class, the students will receive their certification card along with instructions to access a digital copy of the Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) Student book. From getting started with your business, to collaborating with parents and children, to key safety, caregiving, and first aid tips, CABS will help set you up for babysitting success. Students must be present for the entire class and complete achievement of the core learning objectives to receive certification valid for two years. Officers from the Northfield Police Department will make a visit during class to help foster a positive relationship with law enforcement and to answer any questions students might have. Students attend this class independently and should come prepared with a notebook and pen. Please bring a snack. If you are attending the afternoon Home Alone class as well, you may bring a lunch and eat with instructor supervision between classes.

    Would you like to make cleaning more fun than dreaded? If yes, this is for you! If you are just starting out on your own, a mature adult, or a stay at home parent: you can learn how to clean safely and efficiently without harmful chemicals. Your home will be your classroom, We will tailor your home cleaning and step you through the how-to tip of your most challenging cleaning chores. Schedule your 3 hour time for weekdays 9am to noon, or noon-3pm. Evening and Saturday hours by special request. Standard cleaning supplies provided for your session.

    STEM Video Game Enrichment for the 21st Century learner. Each {YEL!} Coding class follows three basic components:•Teach It!…Students learn different video game and storytelling design techniques (movement blocks, control blocks, basic animation, adding scores, etc.) •Code It!… Students use Scratch® to code their own story and video games. •Explore It!…Students can write their own story and video game code, experiment with it and test new options.   • Coding: Hacking Java Games

    Hack into the code of classic games! Students will learn Java coding skills while modifying games such as Asteroids, Tetris, Snake, and more! Coding beginners and more experienced students will love this class. This fun class is our staff and students' favorite codling class. This class requires keyboarding skills, as we will be editing text files. Bringing a flash drive to save code is recommended. Please bring lunch and a drink.

    Get ready to groove at our first ever dance camp! Curated to give your young one an entry level look at what makes dance so exciting; dancers will learn proper dance technique vocabulary, how to execute skills such as kicks and pirouettes, and have the opportunity to perform a fun, upbeat jazz style routine for friends and family at the end of camp! From learning proper body alignment to understanding different dance terms, this camp is designed to help you build a foundation in dance while having a ton of fun. So, put on your dancing shoes and get ready to shine on the dance floor!
  • Destination Mars: Rocketry Course

    Launch and watch your very own rocket speed 300 feet into the air! Then it is yours to take home! Students will make and take home multiple rockets of varying difficulty throughout this session. We will use these rockets and airplanes to investigate basic aeronautical concepts including: propulsion, thrust, lift, drag and more. We will also hypothesize about travel in outer space, how to get a United States astronaut to Mars and life on Mars. Do you have the right stuff?     Drama Lab is a creative haven where budding performers unleash their imagination and hone their acting skills. Led by experienced instructors, students explore the exciting world of theatre through engaging activities, improvisation games, character development, and scene work.   • Driver Education Behind the Wheel

    The six-hour Behind-the-Wheel experience is available following completion of the classroom session. Students must be at least 15 years old, have successfully completed 30 hours of Classroom Drivers Education and have their permit. We recommend waiting until closer to your DMV road test to do your three, 2-hour sessions. Work on adding driving hours to your practice log and then contact us three-four months before your road test to set up your appointments. *Email Marianne Moser, Enrichment Coordinator, at mmoser@northfieldschools.org to arrange dates/times that fit your schedule. Then after successful completion of the Behind-the-Wheel instruction, students will receive a Certificate of Completion Card which is necessary to apply for a driver's license. Please note: If you fail to attend the driving appointment you are registered for or cancel your appointment on the same day (within 12 hours) a drop/add fee of $30 will be assessed for each missed appointment if money is refunded, $30 will be subtracted from the registration fee

    This class is the first step on the road to a driver's license. We offer a complete driver education program conducted by certified instructors. After completing this class, students will receive a blue card and can take the permit test at a driver's exam station. Cost for replacement of lost or damaged blue cards is $10.
  • Driver Education Combo Package

    Register for classroom and Behind the Wheel together and save almost 10%! Choose the classroom section that works best for your schedule. Then after your student completes the classroom phase, they will be issued a blue card (Certificate of Enrollment and Classroom Completion). This blue card is necessary to apply for an instruction permit. Once the permit has been obtained, the student should practice driving with parents and then contact us to schedule driving appointments with our Behind the Wheel instructor closer to the date of their road test. *Email Marianne at mmoser@northfieldschools.org or call 507.664.3648 to arrange dates/times that fit your schedule.
