  • Solar Go Karts Race

    Join us on this fun interactive solar learning experience. Students will learn exactly how solar electric is used for today in modern electric vehicles. Your young one will build a take home mini solar racecar. As the main event, students will work in teams to build a Solar Go Kart to later race each other! Your young tike is sure to have a blast!   • Solar Power your Drone

    Up, up and away! Enjoy fun remote-control drones charged from solar power. Your student will build a solar powered charging station for their drone. When their drone runs out of juice, they can simply charge it anywhere outdoors with their solar charging station. When students are done building, they will challenge other students with their drone.   • St Olaf Summer Music Academy

    The St. Olaf Music Academy provides an opportunity for highly skilled high school choir, band, and orchestra musicians from across the nation to take part in an exciting week of music-making led by the conductors of our internationally acclaimed ensembles. St. Olaf Band Conductor Henry Dorn, Manitou Singers Conductor Therees Tkach Hibbard, and St. Olaf Orchestra Conductor Chung Park, as well as a team of other talented St. Olaf music faculty, will challenge and inspire campers to take their music-making to the next level. Campers will attend classes, one-on-one lessons, rehearsals, master classes, and participate in large ensemble (band, orchestra, choir) and small ensemble (quartet, quintet) experiences. Student and faculty recitals will take place each evening followed by signature St. Olaf activities led by current students. The week will culminate with an inspiring final concert in Boe Chapel, open for families and friends to attend!
  • Storybook Theater

    Once upon a time... we put on a show! Welcome to Storybook Theatre, where we take classic fairytales and put a fun twist on them, and then you get to act them out! Do you love acting, singing, and dancing? Then Storybook Theatre will surely be a great fit for you! In just one week we'll put together a whole musical, and you get to be one of the stars! Come have a wondrous week with Storybook Theatre! Our Summer 2024 show is GOLDILOCKS! Practice times are 10am-2:15pm Monday-Thursday. Friday, report at 3:30pm for the 7pm show. Saturday, report at 11am for the NOON show. *Please note the wrong showtime for Saturday was listed in the Summer 2024 brochure* SHOWTIMES: FRIDAY, JULY 12, 7PM | SATURDAY, JULY 13, NOON. More details will be sent home after the first practice, and depending on your student's role, practice times may be adjusted. Be sure to send your student with a water bottle and dinner or snack each day.

Did you know that Julie Andrews is also an author? In this class, we will explore The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles by Julie (Andrews) Edwards. Whangdoodleland is a place where the impossible becomes possible. Enter the world of your imagination as you take a ride in the Jollyboat and learn about the Whifflebird, Sidewinder, High-Behind Splintercat, and of course the elusive Whangdoodle! Read, discuss, and create your own miniature model of the elusive Whangdoodleland! Class fee includes book and supplies to create your own Whangdoodleland!
  • Video Production: YouTube Shorts, IG Reels & Tik Tok

    Unleash your creativity and become a content creator. Learn the art of producing video shorts for TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Instagram Reels. Edit the video, add motion graphics, and special effects to your own video short, while practicing storytelling and film production techniques. Explore the art and science behind creating compelling short videos that resonate with audiences. Bring a USB drive (at least 8 GB) to save your video. Please bring lunch and a drink.
  • Virtual Reality Coding

    Design, develop and create 3D Virtual Reality environments and characters to make your own 3D games and other virtual reality for kid’s projects on Metaverse new platform Hatch. Hatch is an incredibly fun and stimulating way to learn STEM! This class is ideal for individuals who are passionate about technology, coding, and want to explore the limitless possibilities of VR. VR programs can be viewed on most mobile phones, and VR Systems like oculus or google cardboard. Bring a USB drive to save your games. Please bring lunch and a drink.

    You’re off to middle school! It’s a big change for you, and YAB is here to make the transition a breeze. Join us as we bring YAB to life through hands-on activities and games! Bringing expert advice alive with comic-book style illustrations, the activities and advice offered in YAB will become a new middle schooler’s toolkit for success. Take home a copy of the book, too! Fee includes book and class supplies.
  • Young People's Theater Workshop: Session 2 (gr 3-6)

    As a young theater maker, you will be led by local Guild theater artists in the unique experience of creating an original production! Mornings are filled with creative drama and dance classes, then in the afternoon you will take part in writing, rehearsing and performing an original script. The workshop will culminate with live performances for the public, times to be announced. More info about performance details will be given at YPTW. Make sure you bring a bag lunch! Upon registering, please indicate your current t-shirt size. If you do not specify a size, you will be given what is extra.   • Youth Guitar Lessons

    Whether you are a beginner or have played for a while, here is a chance to learn the guitar or bring your guitar playing up to the next level. Lessons will be tailored to match your current skill level and can be customized to help you learn particular songs or styles of music you would like to be able to play (i.e. Blues, Country, Rock). All lesson materials will be provided. After you register, please email Marianne Moser, Enrichment Coordinator mmoser@northfieldschools.org, to schedule your 30-minute lesson. Please bring your own guitar or indicate whether you need to rent a guitar from the instructor in the notes when you register. The rental cost is $20 for the whole session and is payable directly to the instructor on the first day of class.
