  • Coding: Hacking Java Games

    Hack into the code of classic games! Students will learn Java coding skills while modifying games such as Asteroids, Tetris, Snake, and more! Coding beginners and more experienced students will love this class. This fun class is our staff and students' favorite codling class. This class requires keyboarding skills, as we will be editing text files. Bringing a flash drive to save code is recommended. Please bring lunch and a drink.
  • Dance Camp

    Get ready to groove at our first ever dance camp! Curated to give your young one an entry level look at what makes dance so exciting; dancers will learn proper dance technique vocabulary, how to execute skills such as kicks and pirouettes, and have the opportunity to perform a fun, upbeat jazz style routine for friends and family at the end of camp! From learning proper body alignment to understanding different dance terms, this camp is designed to help you build a foundation in dance while having a ton of fun. So, put on your dancing shoes and get ready to shine on the dance floor!
  • Destination Mars: Rocketry Course

    Launch and watch your very own rocket speed 300 feet into the air! Then it is yours to take home! Students will make and take home multiple rockets of varying difficulty throughout this session. We will use these rockets and airplanes to investigate basic aeronautical concepts including: propulsion, thrust, lift, drag and more. We will also hypothesize about travel in outer space, how to get a United States astronaut to Mars and life on Mars. Do you have the right stuff?     Drama Lab is a creative haven where budding performers unleash their imagination and hone their acting skills. Led by experienced instructors, students explore the exciting world of theatre through engaging activities, improvisation games, character development, and scene work. The last day of class, families are invited to watch a short performance!
  • Driver Education

    The road to a driver's license begins here! Start with classroom training, then complete six hours of Behind the Wheel lessons. Our proven curriculum and consistent classroom training produces safe and informed drivers.   • Driver Education Behind the Wheel

    The six-hour Behind-the-Wheel experience is available following completion of the classroom session. Students must be at least 15 years old, have successfully completed 30 hours of Classroom Drivers Education and have their permit. We recommend waiting until closer to your DMV road test to do your three, 2-hour sessions. Work on adding driving hours to your practice log and then contact us three-four months before your road test to set up your appointments. *Email Marianne Moser, Enrichment Coordinator, at mmoser@northfieldschools.org to arrange dates/times that fit your schedule. Then after successful completion of the Behind-the-Wheel instruction, students will receive a Certificate of Completion Card which is necessary to apply for a driver's license. Cost for replacement of lost or damaged cards is $10. Please note: If you fail to attend the driving appointment you are registered for or cancel your appointment on the same day (within 12 hours) a drop/add fee of $30 will be assessed for each missed appointment if money is refunded, $30 will be subtracted from the registration fee
  • Driver Education Classroom

    This class is the first step on the road to a driver's license. We offer a complete driver education program conducted by certified instructors. After completing this class, students will receive a blue card and can take the permit test at a driver's exam station. Cost for replacement of lost or damaged blue cards is $10.
  • Driver Education Combo Package

    Register for classroom and Behind the Wheel together and save almost 10%! Choose the classroom section that works best for your schedule. Then after your student completes the classroom phase, they will be issued a blue card (Certificate of Enrollment and Classroom Completion). This blue card is necessary to apply for an instruction permit. Once the permit has been obtained, the student should practice driving with parents and then contact us to schedule driving appointments with our Behind the Wheel instructor closer to the date of their road test. *Email Marianne at mmoser@northfieldschools.org or call 507.664.3648 to arrange dates/times that fit your schedule.   • Driver Education Parent Awareness Presentation

    Driver Education Classroom instructor Kevin Dahle and Sgt. Paul LaRoche from the Rice County Sheriff's Office will present the "Point of Impact" program and will be available to answer any specific questions afterwards as it relates to community based Driver Education and local law enforcement. After attending this event, parents will receive a certificate that reduces their student’s required driving hours from 50 hours to 40 hours. The objectives of this "Point of Impact" presentation is to increase parental awareness of: All teen driving risks present today Current driving laws in MN and best practices for teen drivers and their parents Parental involvement with the Driver's Education learning process Resources available to parents and their teen drivers This event is free, but please register in advance under the parent's name and note your student's full name in the question area (first, middle, last) so we can prepare your certificate.

    Calling all school staff! Now that you are off for the summer, we have the class for you! Join us for parent & child playtime and art, and child-focused parent discussions. Depending on ages of children enrolled, separation will be flexible.
  • ECFE in the Parks!

    Join us as we rotate through parks in the community - enjoy a simple activity together, meet other young families, and end with the parachute! Event is canceled in the event of rain.
  • Eagle Bluff

    The Eagle Bluff overnight program offers engaging classes in an outdoor setting. This three-day experience promotes learning in a manner that dovetails academic and social needs. The trip to Eagle Bluff will foster a sense of respect for the community, provide positive outdoor experiences, impart life skills such as teamwork and problem solving, increase environmental awareness and science literacy, and spark an interest in and appreciation for the natural world. For the Summer 2024 trip, the bus will leave by 8:30am on Monday, July 15, from the Northfield Middle School and will return at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17, to the Middle School. A packing list will be provided several weeks prior to the trip. Registrations will be accepted on a first come, first served basis until the trip is full. Scholarships are available. Parent meeting scheduled for Tuesday, July 9, 6-7 p.m., NCEC Cafeteria.
  • Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE)

    ECFE is for everyone! The mission of ECFE is to strengthen families and support the ability of all parents to provide the best possible environment for the healthy growth and development of their children. Parents are supported through resources and guidance in the development of their child and family, and children birth to kindergarten entrance are exposed to new experiences through purposeful interactions and process oriented learning in our indoor and outdoor classrooms! Discounts available for more than one child in the same class.
  • Early Childhood Screening

    Screening includes vision and hearing, height and weight, immunization review, large and small muscles, thinking, language and communication skills as well as social and emotional development. Screening is completed by an early childhood teacher or nurse and is tailored for your child's age, there is no pass or fail! The best age for screening is 3, but we welcome 4 and 5 year olds that have not been screened as well. Transportation available upon request. If your child needs their Early Childhood Screening completed in Spanish, please call 507-301-8957. To cancel your child's screening appointment at any time, please call 507-645-1200.

  • Extreme Robotics: Bionic Beasts

    This camp will energize and excite students by combining the LEGO® building system's versatility and the Mindstorms EV3 (the most sophisticated microcomputer brick ever made by LEGO®). Working in teams, students will construct fun LEGO® models, experiment with programs, and compete in robotic challenges. Robot building, block programming, and teamwork will be part of each day's activities. The final challenges will be centered around hitting targets and a sumo battle. Please bring lunch and a drink.
