BadmintonSportsThe Sports Unlimited Badminton program is designed to provide your beginner and intermediate level player with the fundamental skills of a sport that is growing in popularity. Your child will be taught proper grip, footwork, strokes, volleys, overheads and serves. We will also cover the basic rules and etiquette of the game. The camps are based on the philosophy of providing all children with the opportunity to develop sports skills in a fun, safe, and non-competitive environment. Baseball / SoftballSportsT-Ball Batter, batter, batter, SWING! This t-ball program will encourage teamwork, confidence, and focus in your child, and will help them learn the basic fundamentals of t-ball. Participants will hit off of a tee. The program includes three practices per week, and a water and picture day. Great staff to student ratios, fun practices, and end of season contests make this program a home run. Please bring your own helmet if you do not desire to share the ones provided.T-shirt included with program. Little League Come on out to the ballpark and enjoy a season where the love of the game comes first. Through a mix of drill work, repetition of fundamentals, positional skill building, and a variety of sport related activities, players will learn the basics, be introduced to field positions, and will become better players. The tee will be used when necessary, but players will also spend time hitting via coach pitch. Tentative activities include a water and picture day, and a pitch, hit and run competition. Please bring your own helmet if you do not desire to share the ones provided. T-shirt included with program. Baseball / Softball Through a variety of technical drill work, repetition of fundamentals, and positional skill building, players will refine the basics of hitting, throwing, running, and fielding, while developing abilities, strategies, and the experience necessary for future recreational play or competitive travel participation. This program includes coach pitch, player pitch, and the pitching machine. Other activities include a water and picture day, and a pitch, hit and run competition. Boys & Girls BowlingSportsThe Northfield United States Bowling Association (USBC) is a non-profit organization designed to introduce students to bowling. Meet other kids, make friends, have fun, and prepare for the Raider High School Bowling Team, and a lifetime of enjoyment. Learning to bowl also offers a chance to earn scholarships for continued education. $6,000,000 in scholarships are provided by the bowling industry every year. In addition, 250 colleges offer bowling with scholarships. No experience necessary. Coaching and equipment are provided. Participants may bowl one, two, or all three sessions, and can join at any time for a prorated fee. An annual $10 United States Bowling Congress sanction fee is additional for the new season and due the first session of participation (membership year is September 2022 - August 2023). $100 first session of participation in membership year. $90 additional sessions in membership year. Fall Football Sideline CheerSportsAre you a student in grades 8 - 12, and want to cheer on your NHS football team this fall? If so, come join Fall Football Sideline Cheer! We hold weekly practices, and cheer and stunt on the sidelines of home and away football games throughout the season. You will need to purchase white cheer shoes (prices vary - parents order), a t-shirt for the games, and a cheer warm up jacket (purchased through Varsity for the cold weather games). The estimated cost of those items is between $150-$200. Sign up through Community Education by August 4th to cheer for this 2022 season. Season registration cost is $130. Second and third grades should arrive at 6:15 - 7 pm. High School Boys Summer Soccer CampSportsPopularNorthfield High School Boys Soccer is hosting a summer camp at Spring Creek Soccer Complex. Anyone that will be in grades 8 through 12 this fall that is curious about playing soccer at the high school should sign up. The camp will run from Monday, June 13 to Friday, June 17 from 9:00am to 12:00pm. Players should bring a ball, soccer cleats, shin guards, drinking water, and athletic clothing appropriate for the weather. Camp time will be spent working on skills and playing games. LacrosseSports***This program is no longer running on Thursdays, and will be held from 6:30 - 7:30 pm at the Spring Creek Elementary Soccer Fields*** Designed for beginner players, this fun, no contact program will expose you to basic lacrosse rules and fundamentals through drills, skill work, and individual repetition of lacrosse technique. You will learn to use your lacrosse stick to catch, throw, cradle and scoop, and will be introduced to age appropriate offensive and defensive lacrosse maneuvers. Lacrosse sticks are provided.
