  • Child and Babysitting Safety

    The Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) program from the American Safety and Health Institute provides everything you need to know for safe and successful babysitting. The YouTube “vlogger” style presentation of the video brings a youthful and high-energy spirit to the program content along with handouts, demonstrations, and additional resources. At the end of class, the students will receive their certification card along with instructions to access a digital copy of the Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) Student book. From getting started with your business, to collaborating with parents and children, to key safety, caregiving, and first aid tips, CABS will help set you up for babysitting success. Students must be present for the entire class and complete achievement of the core learning objectives to receive certification valid for two years. Students attend this class independently and should come prepared with a notebook and pen.

    Looking for a fun, memorable theater experience? Join this creative, positive program filled with drama games, activities and theater-based teaching! Drama Lab exists to give students a place to belong, feel accepted and be more confident. You'll play games, laugh, create stories and explore the wide world of imagination. Anything is possible and no game ever ends the same way. Each season has all-new activities, so even if you've taken this class before, register again for more drama fun! Please note: There is no student supervision from the time school is released until the start of class at 4pm. The class time is set to allow the instructor to commute and to accommodate students from all Northfield elementary schools. If you arrive early, you are welcome to wait with your student. Students may not be dropped off without a parent or guardian present until class begins at 4pm. Thank you for your understanding.

  • Home Alone! Are You Ready?

    Is your child ready for the independence of being home alone? Parents need to be sure their children have the skills and maturity to handle the responsibility safely. Whether it is for an hour after school or several hours a day during the summer, being trusted to be home alone can be a positive experience for a child who is mature and well prepared.This class for children will address several topics relating to being“Home Alone” including age guidelines, safe habits, house rules, after school routines, phone calls and door knocks, dog emergencies, personal safety, handling the unexpected, gun safety, severe weather, fire safety, intruders, and first aid tips. Students attend this class independently and should come prepared with a notebook and pen. Parents are encouraged to review the take home information and discuss it with their child.
  • Oil Painting

    Paint with non-toxic oil paint for this two week course. We will learn about oil paints and how to use them before working on a small canvas from a reference photo. There will be plenty of photos to choose from but you may bring your own (size 8x10) if you’d like!

    In this hands-on class, students will spark their creativity by designing and building amazing solar-powered robots using easy-to-assemble parts. They’ll construct working models like solar cranes, lift bridges, and other exciting creations—all powered by the sun! Young engineers will explore the fascinating world of solar energy while developing problem-solving skills, creativity, and confidence through fun, imaginative projects. All materials included in class fee.

    Pick from a variety of supplies as we create a St. Patrick’s Day themed painting and/or drawing of your choice! An Irish landscape? A mischievous leprechaun with a limerick to match?     Once upon a time... we put on a show! Welcome to Storybook Theatre, where we take classic stories and put a fun twist on them, and then you get to act them out! Do you love acting, singing, and dancing? Then Storybook Theatre will surely be a great fit for you! In just one week we'll put together a whole musical, and you get to be one of the stars! Come have a wondrous week with Storybook Theatre! Our Spring 2026 show is TWICE UPON A TIME! Practice times are 4-8:15pm Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Tuesday's practices will be 4-6pm or 6:15-8:15pm depending on role. Friday, report at 3:30pm for the 7pm show. Saturday, report at 11am for the NOON show. PERFORMANCES: FRIDAY, April 17, 7PM | SATURDAY, April 18, NOON. More details will be sent home after the first practice, and depending on your student's role, practice times may be adjusted. Be sure to send your student with a water bottle and dinner or hearty snack each day.
