  • Northfield Summer Strings Academy

    Join us for six days of music-making this August at the Northfield Summer Strings Academy! The Northfield Summer String Academy is an opportunity for any Northfield Public School student enrolled in orchestra to get back into playing their instrument before the start of the school year! Students will practice and collaborate in ensembles based on their grade level and prepare a concert of film and pop music to be performed on the last day of the Academy. Highlights: Six-day summer program Three grade-based ensembles Daily ensemble rehearsals Final-day concert A fun and enriching way for young musicians to prepare for our school year orchestra programs! When: REGISTRATION DEADLINE: FRIDAY, JULY 31, 2026 The camp will take place on Monday-Thursday, August 17-20 and Monday-Tuesday, August 24-25, 2026. (Please note: there was a misprint in the Summer 2026 printed brochure. The final two days of Summer Strings are Monday and Tuesday, August 24 & 25) Students Entering Grade 5: 1:45-3:00 pm Students Entering Grades 6-11: 1:45-3:30 pm All students participate in a performance on August 25 at 3:00 pm. The first 15 minutes of each day is for unpacking and tuning instruments. Required Materials 1. Instrument from home (please email your teacher directly if you are unable to bring this) 2. Pencil 3. Water bottle, if needed 4. Cello/Bass: rock stop or strap 5. Violin/Viola: shoulder rest or sponge 6.     Students explore the vibrant world beneath the waves while creating pastel drawings of sea stars, clownfish, turtles, jellyfish, and more. Each day introduces techniques in color vibrancy, movement, and underwater atmosphere.
  • Project Runway

    Want to learn how to sew? This class is a perfect introduction! Sweet summer projects! A comfy shorts, a water bottle bag, criss-cross headband and more. No experience necessary. Students will make, showcase, and take home all their projects. Hand and machine sewing techniques are taught with SAFETY FIRST always in mind.   • RC Wars

    Build, battle, and conquer! Get ready for epic LEGO® model battles in our RC Battles camp. Students will design, build, and program their own remote-controlled LEGO® creations to compete in thrilling challenges. They’ll learn strategy and teamwork while applying engineering principles to create models that are both powerful and durable. Participants will work in small teams of 2–3, building skills in collaboration, problem-solving, and innovation. Please bring lunch and a drink. A minimum enrollment is required for this class.   • RoboRaiders Summer Camp

    Learn how to build and program robots with the Northfield High School RoboRaiders team! Participants will build and program Lego SPIKE Prime robots to compete in fun challenges. Design, engineering, programming, teamwork and problem solving are the core skills developed. At the camp’s end, students will receive a free RoboRaiders t-shirt! Scholarships available for students as needed.
  • Robotic Builders

    Yes, we CAN learn about robotics! With the LEGO® robotics system, young children can build and program their robotic creations. Designed by the experts at MIT, this unique system teaches children about simple machines, engineering, programming, and so much more. Young imaginations soar! The LEGO® Education Robotics Builder class allows students to explore different concepts in robotics. Possible models may include dancing birds, a hungry alligator robot, goal kicker robot, a rescue plane, and a smart spinner robot. Students will be working in pairs. Please bring a lunch and drink.     Build and code space rovers to scout out Mars, the moon, and other extraterrestrial environments. Also, create a dragster and volcano alarm to learn basic computer programming while having fun! Let’s go!

    Students will design, build, and test exciting chain-reaction machines using ramps, levers, pulleys, and recycled materials—completely screen-free! Through hands-on experimentation, they’ll explore engineering concepts, cause-and-effect relationships, and creative problem-solving. Working in teams, students will collaborate, troubleshoot, and refine their designs to create impressive multi-step reactions.     Get ready for hands-on fun in the kitchen! Smart Snacks Thursday is a series of one-hour children’s cooking classes led by local holistic nutritionist Jackie Mart. Each class focuses on creating kid-approved, healthier snack recipes using wholesome ingredients. Kids will mix, assemble, taste, and learn while building confidence and independence in the kitchen. Each class features different recipes so families can choose one class or several throughout the summer. All supplies are included, and students will enjoy making snacks they can recreate at home.     Stimulate your child's creativity by designing and building epic solar powered cars, robots and machines from east-to-assemble parts. In addition, your student will build solar powered cranes, lift bridges and many other designs. Let your engineers explore the world of solar energy while learning how to problem solve and stretch the imagination. Students will take home a Mini Solar Project. A minimum enrollment is required.   • Solar Power your Drone

    Up, up and away! Enjoy fun remote-control drones charged from solar power. Your student will build a solar powered charging station for their drone. When their drone runs out of juice, they can simply charge it anywhere outdoors with their solar charging station. When students are done building, they will challenge other students with their drone. In the end, students will take home a mini solar battery pack.     Get ready to race with the power of the sun! In this exciting new camp, students will design and build their very own solar-powered racer cars while learning how sunlight can be turned into clean, renewable energy. Once their creations are ready, it's time for the big SOLAR RACE--where everyone's cars compete in a fun, friendly showdown! Students will take home a Mini Solar Dragster.     Once upon a time... we put on a show! Welcome to Storybook Theatre, where we take classic fairytales and put a fun twist on them, and then you get to act them out! Do you love acting, singing, and dancing? Then Storybook Theatre will surely be a great fit for you! In just one week we'll put together a whole musical, and you get to be one of the stars! Come have a wondrous week with Storybook Theatre! OUR SUMMER 2026 SHOW IS HANSEL & GRETEL! Practice times are: 9:30am-1:45pm Monday, Wednesday & Thursday Tuesday 9:30am-11:30am or 11:45am-1:45pm depending on role (roles will be determined during Monday's rehearsal) Friday, report at 3:30pm for the 7pm show Saturday, report at 11am for the NOON show. SHOWTIMES: FRIDAY, JULY 17 7PM | SATURDAY, JULY 18, NOON. All practices and performances will be at the Northfield Middle School Auditorium More details will be sent home after the first practice, and depending on your student's role, practice times may be adjusted. Be sure to send your student with a water bottle and dinner or hearty snack each day.

    Summers are for creating! Join professional artist, Kate Langlais, as we work with a wide variety of two dimensional media like pencils, charcoal, pastels, and colored pencils. We’ll work on different techniques as we create beautiful landscape, portrait, and still life drawings. We may even get a chance to draw outside, weather permitting. Bring your own snacks and dress for a mess!
  • Summer Painting Camp

    Summers are for creating! Join professional artist, Kate Langlais, as we create tons of masterpieces using tempera paint. From sunsets to portraits and everything in between there will be guided painting tutorials you can follow along with as well as plenty of time for “free painting.” On the last day we’ll even paint on a canvas! There will be breaks and sensory activities available as well as outside time weather permitting. Bring your own snacks and dress for a mess!
  • Young People's Theater Workshop

    Registration for Session 1 (Grades 3–6) is now FULL and we are no longer accepting registrations for this session. Thank you for the amazing response! We’re excited for a fantastic summer program with our registered students. As a young theater maker, you will be led by local Guild theater artists in the unique experience of creating an original production! Mornings are filled with creative drama and dance classes, then in the afternoon you will take part in writing, rehearsing and performing an original script. The workshop will culminate with live performances for the public, times to be announced. More info about performance details will be given at YPTW. Make sure you bring a bag lunch! Upon registering, please indicate your current t-shirt size. If you do not specify a size, you will be given what is extra.
