  • Soccer Skills Now

    Spring into action with Soccer Skills Now! This program incorporates age appropriate drills; games; and activities to reinforce learning. Your child will enhance their soccer skills while burning off energy at the same time. Meet in the gym for the start of each class. Program times are subject to change if an alteration in school athletic practices occur. Rain make-ups will take place on Fridays. - Class at NCEC meets at the Greenvale Park Gymnasium, and will then move to the NCEC athletic field.
  • Winter Cheer

    Come cheer on your NHS Raiders Girls and Boys basketball teams this winter season! Open to all 8th to 12th graders. - Register by Nov 21st to cheer for winter. - Uniforms need to be ordered within the first week of practice, from Varsity. The price is $240-$285, depending on whether you purchase the maroon under armor that goes with it. You may use a long sleeve v neck maroon shirt instead. Coach Laurie will email you the uniform link once you register, and will explain how to enter the size info. Once sizes are entered, Laurie will email you another link for collecting the uniform fee. After you purchase the uniform, you may use it for any season you cheer for (fall and winter). If you need to purchase a uniform after the deadline, you still can, it just won't be available for the first few games, however we do have uniforms that you can borrow (different design), until yours arrives. - The season begins Monday, Nov 11th and ends March 5th. - Practices are Mondays from 5 to 7 pm, and Thursdays from 3:30 to 5:30 pm at the high school. - You will need "white cheer shoes" that can be purchased on Varsity, Amazon, Omni Cheer, Cheerzone etc. You don't need to buy new white cheer shoes if you already have them. - You may purchase pom poms from Varsity as your ordering the uniform IF you want but you don't have to.     Spend out-of-school days learning to ride at 310 Underground, Northfield's newest indoor skatepark! Experienced instructors from Northside Boards will teach riding basics, skills, and tricks in a safe, positive, and supportive environment. Boards provided or bring your own. Helmets required; elbow and knee pads optional.

  • Shorin-Ryu Karate

    Karate develops self-confidence, focus, strength, and flexibility. Karate is a rewarding physical activity for adults, children, and families. Train in Shorin-Ryu karate, a traditional Okinawan style. Emphasis is on kata (forms) and self-defense application, not free-style sparring nor competition. You train to improve yourself, not compare yourself to other students – beginners are especially welcome! Our school is part of Ueshiro Shorin-Ryu Karate USA.   • Gumdo Korean Sword - Teen

    Develop fitness, focus, and coordination through Haidong Gumdo, the Korean art of the sword. Using the two-handed longsword, students will learn forms, drills and cutting exercises based on battlefield tactics. This is a non-contact, low-impact, fast-paced martial art. Younger students with previous martial arts experience are welcome with instructor approval or when registered with a parent. This class runs concurrently with the adult class. There is a $20 fee for the practice sword, payable to the instructor on the first day of class. Uniform and testing fees are additional. For more information, go to northstargumdo.org.
  • Intro to Martial Arts

    Designed to provide an introduction to martial arts, this class offers a fun and supportive environment where instructors work with students to improve balance, coordination, and focus, while developing Taekwondo skills and physical fitness. Students learn basic kicks, blocks, and strikes through a combination of traditional forms and drills as well as a variety of fun games. New students receive a Bright Mountain Martial Arts t-shirt to train in. Older students (11+) and students who have progressed to a sufficient level are invited to join the Youth Taekwondo class.   • Private Swim Lessons - Youth

    Private swimming lessons are available for anyone regardless of age or ability. Lessons are held at the AmericInn Pool when an instructor is available (4:30 - 5 pm & 7:30 - 8 pm) on the following Tuesdays. Other people may be in the pool as the private lessons take place. To schedule a private lesson, please call Melissa at 507.664.3502. No online registration available. Tuesdays, January 7 - Feb. 25 Tuesdays, April 1 - May 20 $20/half hour. Children in the same family who are about the same swim level make take the lesson together for the cost of one. Lessons are not final, and payment not collected unless an instructor can be found to cover the private lessons.
  • Youth Taekwondo

    Take your Taekwondo to the next level! Improve physical fitness, focus, and flexibility through traditional forms, controlled-contact sparring, and self-defense techniques as you work toward your world recognized black belt. Students practice basic techniques and learn intermediate and advanced techniques based on their current skill-level. Youth students are encouraged to attend the Intro to Martial Arts class from 6:15-6:45pm as well as the Taekwondo times based on their skill-level. This class is intended for older students (11+) and students who have progressed to a sufficient level in the Intro to Martial Arts class.   • Northfield Skating School

    The Northfield Skating School (NSS) encourages participation, enjoyment and achievement in skating by fostering a positive, challenging and inclusive learning environment. NSS is an official Learn to Skate USA program, endorsed by US Figure Skating, USA Hockey and US Speedskating, where you'll build skills and confidence for skating and for life. Skaters receive a weekly lesson and an open skate punch card for practices. Class assignments will be distributed at parent meeting. NSS reserves the right to cancel, combine, or adjust classes based on registration and does not pro-rate. Enter your skater's Learn to Skate membership number in the required section at the time of registration. Please also list as "new skater" or skills mastered in the notes section if you have skated but not with NSS. Registrations after Thursday, January 2nd at 4:30 pm will incur a $15 late fee, and only be accepted if space permits. Things to note: No refunds after the registration deadline; rental skates are available (first come, first served); and no double-bladed skates are permitted. Skills include dips, swizzles, stops, and games. Skaters who complete Snowplow Sam enter the “Basic” curriculum. Basic 1-6 (ages 6+) Learn all fundamentals of the sport including forward and backward skating techniques, stops, turns, & edges. The Basic levels prepare skaters with the basic knowledge to enable advancement into specialized areas of skating. Skaters who complete Basic 6 enter Pre-Freeskate. Specialized classes are typically open to skaters Basic 4+ or Basic 5+. Adult 1- 6 (age 18+) Designed to promote overall fitness, improving balance and coordination while mastering skating basics. Power/Edge Class - (Recommended for all skaters Basic 5 +) Develop your edges, strength, skating power, and agility in this fun class designed for our advancing skaters/players.   • Boys & Girls Bowling

    The Northfield United States Bowling Association (USBC) is a non-profit organization designed to introduce students to bowling. Meet other kids, make friends, have fun, and prepare for the Raider High School Bowling Team, and a lifetime of enjoyment. Learning to bowl also offers a chance to earn scholarships for continued education. $6,000,000 in scholarships are provided by the bowling industry every year. In addition, 250 colleges offer bowling with scholarships. No experience necessary. Coaching and equipment are provided. Participants may bowl one or both sessions, and can join at any time for a prorated fee. An annual $10 United States Bowling Congress sanction fee is additional for the new season and due the first session of participation (membership year is September 2024 - August 2025). $100 first session of participation in membership year. $90 additional sessions in membership year.   • Champion Force Cheerleading

    We offer a fun and exciting cheer program for beginner, intermediate, and advanced level students. We focus on the fundamentals of cheers, chants, jumps, stunts, and dance routines. Each class learns at least one full routine and will showcase their skills for parents and at competitions. Classes are available for all ages, and no experience is necessary for Recreation Levels. Champion Force Athletics is dedicated to empowering all kids with strength, confidence, and self-esteem. All classes are taught by certified coaches.     Starfish swim lessons will orient children to the aquatic environment, help them acquire rudimentary levels of basic swimming, and will build on the aquatic curriculum learned in the Water Babies & Aqua Tots' classes by providing additional guided practice with increased distances and times. Your child will love learning to swim with our creative curriculum themes like Safari, Outer-space, Circus, and Ocean! Children are allowed to participate without an adult/parent in the water. Purpose: To orient preschool-age children to the aquatic environment and to help them acquire rudimentary levels of basic aquatic skills while becoming more proficient with aquatic movements as distance and time is increased.   • Girls On The Run

    This after-school program will use the power of running to prepare you for a lifetime of healthy living. Over the course of the 10-week, 20-lesson season, you will learn life-changing lessons about healthy friendships, teamwork, decision-making, self-respect and more, all while preparing to run a 5k. No previous running experience required. Generous need-based financial aid is available at the time of registration. Register through Girls on the Run beginning February 1 at www.gotrmn.org.     This Northfield favorite is a one-of-a-kind experience! With a 6:1 player/coach ratio, and teams being comprised of just three to four athletes each, your child will stay busy; increase their skill with more repetition; and receive more individualized training and connection with their coaches. Practices are broken down into warmups; partner throwing and catching; drill work; and flag football games. Team assignments and t-shirts are provided on the first day. Players must purchase a mouth guard prior to the program.
